Oregon Miniature Aircraft Squadron Field Rules
(Amended February 2002)
- You must have a current AMA card in your possession before you can handle a plane on the ground or fly.
- Your name and address must be in or on the airplane.
- Obtain the proper frequency pin from the Frequency Control Board BEFORE turning on your transmitter. Replace the frequency pin with your AMA card.
- Range check your radio .
- Do not start engines before 9am
- Mufflers are required on all engines larger than .06 cubic inch displacement.
- Make sure bystanders are not in the prop arc when doing run-ups.
- You may stand on or near the runway for takeoffs and landings. Stay clear of the runway by 25 ft. when flying.
- You must announce your intention to land, takeoff or any other runway activity, including grass takeoffs and landings.
- A pilot who announces "Dead Stick" has priority.
- No more than four airplanes can be in the air at one time.
- Grass takeoffs and landings west of the paved runway must be at least 40 feet north of the northern pilot station.
- No taxi or run-ups are allowed in the pit area.
- Taxiway takeoffs are prohibited. Hand launches must be within 25 ft of the runway (safety fence/pilots line) and in the general direction of the prevailing air traffic pattern
- Aircraft will not be flown west of the runway south of a point 100 ft north of the benches or the mid-point of the runway. Grass takeoffs and landings are the exception. Combat flying must be done east of the runway at all times.
- Do not fly closer than 50 ft. to the dryer shed when personnel are working in the area. Do not fly directly over any living quarters on the property.
- All non-pilots, (visitors, family and pets) must stay on the West Side of the benches and 50 ft. back from the runway approach over the lake. Children must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times.
- The use of the boat is restricted to O.M.A.S. members and a life preserver must be worn.
- The last member to leave the field should make sure the boathouse, clubhouse, and toilets are properly secured.
